AJAX – Local residents and environmental enthusiasts gathered at Carruthers Marsh Pavillion to celebrate the launch of a new book – The Greenbelt from Friends of the Greenbelt CEO Burkhard Mausberg about the history and success of Ontario’s Greenbelt.
The Greenbelt is a compelling coffee table book filled with beautiful photography and rich stories from the Greenbelt, published by Barlow Books.
Ajax Mayor Steve Parish spoke to the crowd about his vision for the Greenbelt and the region as a passionate Greenbelt supporter. Mayor Parish was interviewed in the book and shared his commitment to environmentalism as a core value of the community in Ajax.

With today’s announcement, the Province has reinforced the most central legacy of the Greenbelt – its permanence. Along with the addition of 21 urban rivers and 7 coastal wetlands, we look forward to participating in the process to consider additional watersheds and hydrological areas to include in Greenbelt. Protecting a clean water supply supports agriculture and ensures the long-term health of the region.
