Celebrity Luncheon 2013

The grant will support the annual Celebrity Luncheon as part of the kick-off to the 2013 Niagara Wine Festival.  This event is a celebration of locally grown Greenbelt food, and 100% Ontario wine.

Anah Shabbar has lived in Ontario's Greenbelt her entire life, and through her interests in music, visual production and event planning, found herself working in the arts and culture field.

Major Grant Brings Community Together to Protect the Bruce Peninsula

(Tobermory, ON) -- The Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association (BPBA) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an $87,000 grant by the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation. The grant will be used to coordinate a community led Conservation and Stewardship Plan for the Bruce that strengthens natural connections between existing protected spaces and creates sustainable strategies for development and active use of the landscape.

Ontario Government Announces Expansion of Greenbelt

The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation applauds Premier Dalton McGuinty on his announcement on expanding Ontario’s Greenbelt. 

With funding from the J.W. McConnell Foundation, George Cedric Metcalf Foundation and Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation, the Greenbelt Fund is embarking on a pilot project that will look at ways to integrate regional food hubs with mainstream foodservice distribution to develop a Regional Food System.

Growing up in the Greenbelt was especially fun during the holiday season! Every year my family would drive out to a local tree farm and hike around to find the best tree we could. However, because our hard hearts had been softened by all of the Christmas cheer, we came home annually with a tree that looked less like the one in Clark Griswold'sliving room and more like the sad little tree (but the one most in need of love and warmth) from A Charlie Brown Christmas.
