The 8th Annual Halton Eco Festival, a free, Earth Day environmental fair held Saturday, April 19 at the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre features 18 educational workshops. The event raises public awareness about the importance of individual action on environmental stewardship.  In addition to the workshops, the 2008 Halton Eco Festival features two hockey rinks filled with 100 exhibitors (displaying their many green environmental products, services and campaigns), including nine sponsoring organizations.

Public Meeting for Cheltenham Badlands Management Planning Process April 3rd

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING The Public are invited to the first Public Meeting in the Cheltenham Badlands Management Planning process. A Management Plan for the Cheltenham Badlands Property is in the early stages of development. The management planning process will define the goal, objectives and long term direction for the protection, development, management and use of the property’s resources. In particular, management issues such as access to the site and protection of the property’s sensitive earth and life science features will be addressed in the planning process. We need your input! You are invited to attend a Public Meeting to hear background information about the Cheltenham Badlands site, the management planning process, public involvement in the process, and to provide your input and insight into the issues that should be addressed as part of the planning process. Food Connects Us All: Sustainable Local Food in Southern Ontario is now available for download. This paper aims to contribute to a broader understanding of food system dynamics in this province. It is intended as a backdrop for discussions on how Ontario could move toward a truly local sustainable food system through collaboration and the identification of key leverage points for food system change.

"Nature Walk for Our Environment 2008" takes place on June 15 out of the Parks Canada Discovery centre and follows the Waterfront Trail to Cootes Paradise, including part of the Hamilton to Brantford Rail Trail around the Dundas Valley Conservation Area. The walk helps raise funds for local partner organizations working on environmental projects in the Hamilton area and educates participants about the beauty and value of the Greenbelt’s hiking trails.
