By now you have probably heard about the Greenbelt Harvest Picnic, a celebration that includes a Greenbelt farmers market, food and drink vendors committed to using local ingredients, along with arts, crafts, and of course music. This year's show is promising to be ton of fun, with acts such as the Arkells, Gordon Lightfoot, Iron and Wine, Bahamas, Basia Bulat, Kathleen Edwards, Gregory Alan Isakov, Martha Wainwright, & more!
The Greenbelt Harvest Picnic takes place just a stone’s throw away from the new, signed Greenbelt Route, which I thought it was worth noting since we have decided to offer free bicycle valet service at the festival this year. Music and bikes at the Greenbelt Harvest Picnic? What a combination!
Here’s how the bicycle valet works:

Ride your bike to the festival. Conveniently, the Greenbelt Harvest Picnic takes place at Christie Lake Conservation Area, just off the Greenbelt Route! Coming from Hamilton, I suggest heading north from Christies Corner along Middletown Rd, and turning right on Highway 5. Take care here as traffic moves quickly along this last 800 metres of the route. I also suggest bringing along the relevant maps available at greenbelt.ca/route-paper_maps (Christie Lake is on Map 8). Remember that the Greenbelt Route map is available from your smartphone too! |

Locate the Bicycle Valet. The valet is located at the east end of the festival site at Christie Lake Conservation Area. Watch for these signs, which will direct you across the site to the bike valet:

Enjoy the Picnic! Leave your bike with our trusty staff and head off to experience the festival! We will be watching bikes from 11am-11:30pm, and you can come back any time during the day to claim your bike. Be sure to swing by the Greenbelt booth and outdoor living room to say hello! The picnic will be taking place on August 29th at Christie Lake Conservation Area. Gates open at 11:00am, and the performances will occur between noon and 11:00pm.
