Tonight is the opening reception for Artists Survey The Greenbelt: A unique exhibition which celebrates the 5th anniversary of Ontario’s Greenbelt.
Hosted at Gallery 1313, the exhibit has been curated by Patrick Macaulay, Head of Visusal Arts at Harbourfront Centre, and Phil Anderson, the Director of Gallery 1313.
This piece, by Irene Cymbal of Hamilton is called ‘Capital F’. Capital F is the view from the Niagara Escarpment of an industrial sector in the core of the City of Hamilton. The viewer observes the cityscape through the branches of an old birch tree, which create a sense of direction and guide the gaze of the viewer. The view from the top of the escarpment creates an impression of depth and allows the view to observe the dynamic of balance and tension between the industrial sector and the surrounding nature.
